Lots of people want to identify the job of their dreams and apply for it successfully. The Career Service is committed to helping JGU students achieve this dream.
The Career Service is a central point of contact for career orientation and the transition to a profession. We strive to connect our students with future employers and ease the transition from graduation to professional life. To do so, we have various programs meant to support JGU students and graduates with their career goals and professional qualifications beyond their individual fields of study. We also collect and present all offers from other university institutions on these topics. We offer employers the opportunity to connect with our students through career events and other formats, present their company and professional field, and post job openings. We collaborate with staff from institutes and faculties on subject-specific offers and provide content support. We are also a partner for career orientation throughout the Rhine-Main region by means of various collaborations with institutions both inside and outside of the university.
Feel free to contact us or select one of our programs that fits your needs!
Completing vocational training usually comes with a clear career path − but that’s often not the case after finishing a university degree. That’s why many students find themselves asking, “What should I do after graduation?” Whether you are in your first semester and just getting to know your interests and strengths, midway through your studies seeking professional guidance and practical experience, or about to graduate and wondering how to get your dream job – we want to support you in all phases of your career journey.
From developing your personal profile and exploring career paths to gaining insights into professional fields, possible employers, and practical experience – all the way to mastering the application process – the Career Service has individual advising sessions, comprehensive information, workshops, lectures, career events, and its own Career Center (including a job portal) to meet your needs.
We look forward to meeting you!
Are you looking for new talents and would like to introduce yourself and your professional field? Would you like to get to know our students and talk to them about career opportunities and different fields of work? Are you interested in helping our (future) graduates with their career orientation and informing them about job profiles in your field? JGU’s Career Service offers you various platforms and contact options to do so.
As an interface between companies, organizations, employers, and our students and graduates, we organize career fairs and other professional orientation events and run a free job portal, accessible through our Career Center.
We look forward to talking to you!
Earning an academic degree opens up a very broad range of job opportunities – regardless of the subject area or academic culture. Due to this diversity and the challenges resulting from it, our degree programs include both practical work experience and career guidance.
The Career Service is here to help you guide your students with customized career resources and services. We are happy to adapt our programs to your needs or the needs of your students, or develop new programs together.
We look forward to working with you!

Whether it’s advising, coaching, supporting, informing, or networking – the Career Service has been the main contact point for career orientation and the transition to a profession at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz since February 2009!
We support students throughout their studies (and beyond) with career orientation and the successful transition to a profession. For us, career orientation while still a student primarily means knowing one’s own interests, abilities, and personal profile, reflecting on and expanding one’s own competencies, and the targeted and successful search for relevant job opportunities. In our individual advising sessions, we provide support in a spirit of partnership focusing on students’ needs with a client-centered, resource- and solution-oriented approach.
We organize numerous events and opportunities to connect with companies, organizations, and employers, serving as a vital link between the university and the job market.
We are part of the Student Advisory Center and therefore integrated into JGU’s advisory network. We are well-connected beyond Mainz through our membership in the Career Service Network of Germany (csnd) and various other collaborations with other higher education institutions, the Agentur für Arbeit, and other institutions outside of the university.
- FORTHEM Alliance | We organize lectures, workshops, and volunteer work projects for the FORTHEM Alliance and, in doing so, help students from nine European universities enter the German job market.
